We use localStorage and cookies for:

• Remembering your theme preference (light/dark mode)
• Tracking tool usage for the email gate (first use is free, then email requested)
• Storing your email locally to avoid repeated prompts

2. How We Use Your Information

• Job matching: Your CV text is sent to Anthropic (Claude AI) to extract skills and match you to jobs. CV text is not permanently stored after processing unless you have an account.
• CV and cover letter generation: Your CV and the job ad you provide are sent to Anthropic to generate tailored documents.
• Interview simulation: Your spoken answers are processed locally in your browser using the Web Speech API. The text of your answers is sent to Anthropic for AI interviewer responses and scoring.
• Job alerts: Your email and preferences are used to send weekly job match emails via Resend.
• Job applications: When you apply for a job, your cover letter, CV, and contact details are sent to the employer via email through Resend.
• Employer listings: Job listing details are stored and displayed publicly on the website.

4. Data Storage and Security

• Account data is stored in Upstash Redis (encrypted at rest, hosted in Sydney region)
• Passwords are hashed using scrypt and never stored in plaintext
• CV text uploaded for one-time matching is not permanently stored
• CV text for registered accounts is stored to enable faster future matches
• All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption
• We do not store credit card or payment information (our service is free)

5. Your Rights Under the Privacy Act 2020

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of all personal information we hold about you
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal information
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data

To exercise these rights, email us at hello@findmeajob.co.nz. We will respond within 20 working days as required by law.

You can also delete your account directly through your account settings on the website.

6. Data Retention

• Job seeker accounts: Retained until you delete your account
• Employer accounts: Retained until you request deletion
• Job listings: Active for 30 days, then moved to expired status. Deleted on request.
• Blog posts: Retained indefinitely
• Email alert subscriptions: Until you unsubscribe
• One-time CV uploads (no account): Not permanently stored

7. Children

FindMeAJob.co.nz is not intended for use by children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed outside New Zealand by our third-party service providers:

• Anthropic (United States) — AI processing
• Vercel (United States) — website hosting
• Upstash (Sydney, Australia) — database
• Resend (United States) — email delivery

These providers maintain appropriate security measures. By using our service, you consent to this processing.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Material changes will be communicated via the website.
